Our Dog Emmett has spread tons of joy at the Manhattan V.A. hospital and NYC – ACS (children’s services). No matter what age the person is, he seems to sense exactly what they need. With some, he readily approaches as they smile and offer belly rubs. Others simply want to observe him from across the room, whether they are a child or adult, he “gets it.” Babies giggle when he licks their hand, and the elderly love him when he places his head on their lap as he sits next to their wheelchair. These behaviors were exhibited even before he had pet therapy training.
In the summer, Emmett loves to go to outdoor restaurants in the city. He loves getting ice water and gets lots of hugs from servers. He gives pooch therapy wherever he goes.
I wish every person had the same level of emotional intelligence that Emmett was born with, including myself.
Thank you Mary for a beautiful puppy, both inside and out. He is compassionate, intelligent, fun, playful, amusing, and loving.
With gratitude,
Sam, Bonnie, and Aaron Marks
