Poetic Gold Farm training center, Falmouth, ME “Tally”
(Am CH Striker x Am CH Gracie litter)
I chose my heart dog Tally, Goldiva Raleigh Tangled Up In Blue CD RAE TDI TT CGCA CGC, because of his people-loving temperament as a baby and the beautiful overall balance in his conformation, without knowing he would be a life-changing dog. Of the many goldens I have owned over the years, Tally embodies everything I believe a golden should be. What experienced dog people call an “honest dog”, Tally gives his best effort to do the right thing, always. He is attentive, biddable, and easy to train in any venue because he loves to work and is a joyful learner; he is that constant companion I can take anywhere with me and always do. In a breed often beset with health problems when not carefully bred, Tally has clear eyes, heart, hips and elbows- something for which I give thanks. Tally achieved his AKC Companion Dog title at age 2 with no particular training for it except great basic obedience, and he also passed his Therapy Dog International test with a marginal notation by the evaluators reading “what a wonderful dog!”; he finished 20 Rally Obedience legs passing Rally Excellent and Rally Advanced in the same day to earn a leg to become a Rally Advanced Excellent dog. I cannot quite grasp how the years have sped by and Tally is now six. I actively treasure every moment with this once-in-a-lifetime golden retriever.
