Margo starts her day in typical Golden fashion, with at least one hiking boot or slipper in her mouth. We’re training her to grab 2 identical shoes to save us both time. Like other island dogs, she’s prone to chart her own course when she’s out—generally running down to the boat yard to jump off the dock for a swim, but this should not be confused with her extremely gentle and sweet temperament. So gentle in fact, that she is the shepherd of our chickens, often chasing off fox who are inclined to get a closer look. Margo has gone so far as to rescue chickens from a fox’s lair! We are very lucky indeed for this bonus gift. Our 3-year old daughter is Margo’s best friend and they’re nearly the same age. Margo is comfortable in a wide variety of environments; sailing, camping, jogging and even as an occasional guest to the seniors at the retirement home next door.
