Monty was one of my orphan pups at 6.75 oz at Day 3 from Boston’s Angell Memorial. 9 Pups were born 7 days early when Merlot ate a loaf of bread with plastic sleeve and metal twist tie 13 days before her due date. The metal was the only thing that showed on X-ray in a little closure twist. A long week trying to wait for the twist tie, bread and wrapper to pass, which didn’t happen. Three ER surgeries and $25k+ later, Merlot spent 9 days in ER. One by one the little guys didn’t make it. Tube feeding every 2 hours round the clock. They lived in the incubator on oxygen for 21 days. Their eyes didn’t open till 19 days. The first 14 days went from 9 pups to 3 surviving pups, Can CH Monty, Am CH Kistler and Artemis (aka Olive) survived. My little miracle pups. Against all odds, Monty and Kistler became beautiful Champions. Olive was the tiniest and just a little 50 lb adult.
