When we first saw her puppy photo, we knew her name immediately—Lena, which is short for Magdalena in Spanish, our little muffin.  She is extremely smart and loving, and spends much of her time being affectionate with her family, and playing with her brother/uncle—Chico.  Since our household is bilingual, so is she.  She will get her “plato” and her brother’s when it is mealtime.  She will retrieve leashes when it is time for a walk, or bring their empty water bowl to us if they are thirsty.  She loves to take shoes, brushes, and socks to their owners. She will even get the teléfono when she hears it ring.  Her favorite activities are accompanying us snowshoeing in winter, hiking up our local mountain all year, and swimming on Cape Cod in the summer. Most of all, she loves to snuggle with us on the couch or on our bed.  If a tear is shed, she will quickly kiss it away.
